CUMTA Introduction:

CUMTA is focusing on integrated and sustainable urban mobility initiative for Chennai. CUMTA is better placed to manage the existing institutional gaps and overlaps amongst various agencies in tackling urban transport issues at an optimum utilization of resources. The jurisdiction of CUMTA extends over the whole of Chennai metropolitan Planning Area.

Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) Citizen Survey:

Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority the nodal agency for urban transport in Chennai, is developing a comprehensive mobility plan for the city. With an aim to reduce travel time & cost, reliable and faster public transport, increasing public transport network, improved connectivity between different modes of public transport and creating safe roads, this Comprehensive Mobility Plan will be prepared for Chennai with citizen’s inputs from this survey. CUMTA is seeking valuable insights from the NGOs in Chennai through a survey. We Everyside foundation will play a significant role in shaping the transport system and infrastructure for the next 25 years by helping CUMTA through the public survey.

Challenges Identified in the Project:

  • Manpower and resources
  • Action items were assigned to SYSTRA for door-to-door survey with clear responsibilities and deadlines.

Meeting Highlights:

Noteworthy highlights from the meeting included reason for the survey. The collaborative atmosphere fostered effective communication and decision-making. The meeting concluded with a clear understanding of the next steps, outlined as collective outreach to citizen of Chennai. Overall, the gathering proved to be productive and essential in moving forward with the CMP Citizen Survey.
