Women’s Welfare Campaign: CMP SURVEY

The Women’s Welfare Campaign : Fem Power by Everyside Foundation with assistance with CUMTA on 15th December 2023 at Everyside Foundation Head Office, Puzhal aimed to address and improve the overall well-being of women in our community. This initiative sought to empower women by focusing on key areas such as health, education, economic opportunities, and social support.
Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority – (CUMTA) is a government agency in Chennai that participates in the local governance of public transport concerns. It is developing a comprehensive mobility plan for the city. With an aim to reduce travel time & cost, reliable. and faster public transport, increasing public transport network, improved connectivity between different modes of public transport and creating safe roads, the Comprehensive Mobility Plan will be prepared for Chennai with citizen’s inputs from this survey. CUMTA is seeking valuable insights from the NGOs in Chennai through a survey. We Everyside foundation have played a significant role in shaping the transport system and infrastructure for the next 25 years by helping CUMTA through the public survey.

Objecives:

1. Education Empowerment: Focusing on education, the campaign aimed to enhance literacy rates among women. Initiatives included scholarship programs, vocational training workshops, and mentorship programs to support women in pursuing their educational and career goals.
2. Economic Empowerment: To foster economic independence, the campaign facilitated skill development programs and entrepreneurship workshops. Microfinance initiatives were also introduced to enable women to start and sustain their own businesses, contributing to their financial autonomy.
3. Legal Awareness and Support: The campaign sought to raise awareness about women’s legal rights and provide support for those facing legal challenges. Workshops on domestic violence, legal counseling sessions, and assistance in navigating the legal system were integral components of this effort.
4. Community Building and Support Networks: Recognizing the importance of social support, the campaign encouraged the formation of women’s support groups. These groups provided a platform for women to share experiences, discuss challenges, and offer emotional support, fostering a sense of community.
5. CMP Survey: Women were trained to conduct online survey, travel mediums with the region and how to find employment.

IMPLEMENTATION

The campaign’s success hinged on collaboration with CUMTA, the government agency. Awareness campaigns were conducted through various mediums, including workshops, seminars, and social media platforms. The active involvement of volunteers and influencers helped amplify the campaign’s reach and impact.

CHALLENGES

Challenges such as cultural barriers, resource constraints, and resistance to change were addressed through community engagement and tailored awareness programs. Continuous feedback loops were established to adapt strategies and ensure the campaign remained responsive to the evolving needs of the community.

OUTCOMES

The Women’s Welfare Campaign witnessed positive outcomes, including increased transportation awareness, rise in educational enrollment among women, and the successful establishment of women-led enterprises. The community reported a heightened sense of solidarity among women, contributing to an overall improvement in the well-being and empowerment of women.

Women were trained and taught by Mr Karthik RSM and Ms. Beulah throughout the session. Everyside Foundation thank them for their efforts and teachings. Volunteers played a pivotal role in the success of the campaign. Their dedication and enthusiasm created a positive and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging active participation from the community.
Nagomi, Suguna, Tamil Selvi, Praveena, Sandhiya, Indra Gandhi, Maheshwari and Aarthi were present from our team during the campaign.

CONCLUSION

The Women’s Welfare Campaign not only addressed immediate challenges faced by women but also laid the foundation for sustained progress. By fostering a comprehensive approach that combined health, education, economic empowerment, and community support, the campaign aimed to create lasting positive change for women in our community. Ongoing evaluation and adaptation will be essential to ensuring the continued success and impact of such initiatives
