NGO NAME : EVERYSIDE FOUNDATION
Venue : Alinjivakkam Village and Redhills., Thiruvallur District.
Date : 08 December 2023

In the wake of a devastating Michaung Cyclone that unleashed torrential rains and widespread flooding throughout Chennai and Southern India, a beacon of warmth emerged in the form of a blanket distribution campaign led by the Everyside Foundation Under CSR activities with association with Sunland KTV Health Private Limited. Communities affected by the cyclone found solace and comfort as volunteers rallied to provide essential blankets to those grappling with the aftermath. The target locations of the campaign were Alinjivakkam Village and Red Hills, Chennai.
Cyclones are forces of nature that leave a trail of destruction in their wake, causing severe flooding and displacing countless individuals. The Michaung cyclone, with its accompanying deluge, inundated homes, disrupted lives, and left many without necessities such as drinking water, food, and electricity. As the floodwaters receded, the survivors faced the harsh reality of rebuilding their lives from scratch.
In the aftermath of the cyclone, the affected regions were left with a chilling reality – not just the physical destruction of homes and infrastructure, but also the emotional toll on those who had lost their belongings and, in some cases, loved ones. As temperatures dropped and the need for warmth became paramount, the call for aid reached the compassionate hearts of volunteers and humanitarian organizations.
Understanding the urgent need for warmth, Everyside Foundation swiftly initiated blanket distribution campaigns. This campaign was designed not only to provide physical comfort but also to symbolize a beacon of hope for those grappling with the aftermath of the natural disaster. Blankets, often taken for granted in normal circumstances became invaluable lifelines for families struggling to regain a sense of normalcy.
The success of the blanket distribution campaign hinged on the selfless efforts of volunteers who worked tirelessly to reach the affected areas. These unsung heroes navigated challenging conditions, traversing flooded terrain and impassable roads to ensure that both communities were left without the warmth they so desperately needed.
Their dedication and resilience underscored the power of community and the collective spirit to overcome adversity. Volunteers who took responsibility for assisting the Campaign at the time of the disaster were Dharanika S., Ragul M., Dharshini Manoj, Kishore, Sanjay Kumar, Krishnamoorthy, Anand Raj, Muniraj, Hemanth, Karthik, Ramu, Thenarasu and Ajai.
Special thanks to our Program Officer S. Parthasarathy and Volunteer from the NSS Team of SRM Valliammai Engineering College. Extending gratitude to Ms. Beulah Savitha president of Everyside Foundation for organizing the event, Her support and presence made it a truly exceptional gathering.
The response to the blanket distribution campaign extended beyond local efforts, with Sunland KTV Health Private Limited joining hands to provide support. Mr. Kannan and Mr. Narayanan, the Managing Director and Joint Managing Director of Sunland KTV Health Food Private Limited, took the initiative to make a meaningful impact on his community by providing comfort to those less fortunate. KTV Health Food Private Limited donated 250 blankets worth Rs 30,000 under the CSR Initiative for the coming winter season.
Each location received 125 blankets.
As the floodwaters recede and communities begin the arduous task of rebuilding, the impact of the blanket distribution campaign remains a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Though the cyclone brought devastation, it also sparked a wave of compassion that transcended borders and brought warmth to the hearts of those in need.
In conclusion, the blanket distribution campaign led by Everyside Foundation emerged as a powerful response to cyclone-induced floods, offering not just physical warmth but also a ray of hope in the darkest moments. As communities come together to rebuild, the memory of this campaign will stand as a reminder of the strength found in unity and compassion.
