Providing Hope: Everyside Foundation’s Support to the Narikuravar Community
Location: Redhills, Thiruvallur District
On 9th March 2023, The Everyside foundation, with Beulah Savitha as the CEO and Karthik as the Event Manager, initiated a provision distribution event for the Narikuravar community people at Redhills, Thiruvallur, between 4 pm to 5 pm. Kuruvila volunteered to assist with the event. The Narikuravar community people are one of the marginalized communities in Tamil Nadu, and they are mostly nomadic in nature. The event aimed to provide necessities to the community people and to address their needs during these difficult times of the pandemic.
The Narikuravar community is one of the indigenous and marginalized communities in Tamil Nadu, mainly involved in occupations such as hunting, gathering, and fortune-telling. They are predominantly nomadic in nature and have a distinct culture and language. Historically, the community has faced discrimination and marginalization, which has led to their social and economic exclusion. Despite various government initiatives to improve their living conditions, the Narikuravar community continues to struggle with poverty, illiteracy, and lack of basic amenities. The provision distribution event organized by the Everyside foundation is a significant step towards addressing the needs of the Narikuravar community and providing them with essential support.
The Everyside foundation had arranged for a distribution of provisions of essential items. The foundation had identified 20 families in the Narikuravar community, who were in dire need of assistance, and distributed the provisions to them.
The Everyside foundation team had set up a temporary stall, where they had arranged all the provisions. The team members handed over the provisions to the community people and provided them with guidance on how to use the provisions effectively.
