RURAL COMMUNITY SUPPORT
At Tholavedu, Thiruvallur District
On the 19th of February 2023, the Everyside Foundation distributed Korai Pai mats that are also called as Korai wefts and pillows to 40 families in Tholavedu village, Thiruvallur district as a show of support to the rural community. The foundation, which is known for its philanthropic activities, provided this support to the community to help improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable members of society.
Korai Pai mats are a traditional craft in Tamil Nadu made from Korai grass, a type of wild grass that grows in abundance in the region. The mats are woven by skilled artisans and are used for a variety of purposes, including sitting, sleeping, and as floor coverings. They are an integral part of the cultural heritage of the region and are highly valued for their beauty and durability.
The distribution of Korai Pai mats and pillows by the Everyside Foundation is a practical and effective way to support families in the community. The mats and pillows can provide comfort and relief to families who may be struggling to make ends meet, and can also serve as a symbol of cultural identity and pride.
The event was held at the village community center, where the 40 families who received the Korai Pai mats and pillows were invited to collect their mats. The Everyside Foundation worked with local volunteers and artisans to ensure that the distribution process was smooth and efficient. Appreciation and love to our amazing volunteers – Mr. Nesaraj, Stella, and Karthikeyan! Their tireless efforts and unwavering dedication have made a huge difference in the lives of so many people. We thank them for selflessly giving their time and energy to make this world a better place. Each family received a beautifully crafted mat and pillows, which they can use for a variety of purposes. The mats and pillows provided a welcome addition to their homes and served as a reminder of the rich cultural heritage of the region. For many, it was a symbol of hope and renewal, as they were able to access a traditional craft that may have been out of their reach.
Our incredible team of volunteers at Everyside Foundation, Led by Everyside Foundation CEO Beulah Savitha, joined forces with Sleepcosee to distribute Korai Pai and cosy pillows to rural communities in need.
